Water Sports Centre, Amsterdam, NL

The water sports centre Sloterplas is a well-hidden small complex on an island in the lake Sloterplas. Due to its remote position and its partly overage facilities it struggles with a lack of visitors.
The design aims to create a more attractive appearance towards the public realm and to improve the existing facilities by a couple of low-cost interventions. Most significant of these interventions is the introduction of a square, to be used both by public and the water sports centre. Dominating element on the square is an existing boat shed, getting an entirely new façade made of transparent polycarbonate sheets.
