Pedestrian Bridge, Amsterdam, NL

Confronted with the task of designing a pedestrian bridge to be part of a family of existing bridges - which were showing serious maintenance problems - we made the proposal of a ‘non-bridge’. The viaduct is situated in the natural park-landscape of the Rembrandtpark and is designed to be as concealed as possible, giving the idea of a continuous landscape. The only visible mark of the viaduct will be a small concrete band, which in the future will mostly be hidden by water vegetation. On top of the viaduct there is a thick layer of soil, allowing fauna and flora to pass over.
